I recently shot the beautiful work of Henna artist Asha, and it was quite the experience! Watching her turn bare skin into works of art was fantastic, and we punched out some great shots by the end of the night.
While shooting in Asha's multi-leveld loft, the open concept of the space, combined with the multiple floors, allowed for some experimenting with angles, ideas, and levels. Lesson of the shoot: never fear to use all the space available to you!!
Editorials, creative collaboration shoots, product, babies...it has been non-stop!
As I am completely redoing my portfolio, I am not only exploring a whole new realm of creativity, but also meeting some great professionals in the feild of fashion.
I am so excited to announce that my new website is complete! Check out the sleek and modern look, designed by Ferrand Communications Inc., and experience Photography By Olivia in a whole new light!

It was a great shoot yesterday with model Shaleen and MUA Karissa...but boy, was it cold! I love the results of winter shoots, and I have so many ideas to still put into action...but shooting on a windy day that is -10 degrees is not easy! Definitely kudos to our beautiful model, Shaleen, who managed to walk downtown Toronto, through the snow, in high heels and tights! Although it was a short shoot, under an hour, we got some great results!
The image series should be up by the end of the weekend.

Sometimes getting out of your element is key to developing new skills, and expanding old ones! Perfect example....portraiture isn't limited to humans!! And we now know his name is Peepers!

Amazing shoot yesterday. Although we had to deal with some lighting obstacles because of limited space, as always we used our disadvantage to our advantage! With an 8-person team, yesterday's editorial shoot was great fun and extremely successful! Nick's easy-going, humorous persona made shooting him a pleasure, whilst Tara's spunk matched the incredible outfits designed by Yvonne Lin and styled by Kenisha Paranso. Although Tara's images won't be revealed until later this year, keep an eye out for Nick's spread on my website!
The team included: Kenisha Paranso of i.D. Silhouette (stylist), Yvonne Lin (designer), Nick Smyth and Tara Wright (models), Larissa Mccourt (Hair and Makeup), and Jeff Wu and Adam Merifield (MesmerEyes Photographers).
Overall--a great start to the new year!

What an amazing year 2011 was! As it was all about preparing for 2012, expect exciting news through 2012!
A quick look back at 2011:
The highlight of the year had to have been the Fashion Workshop that I ran at the Toronto Camera Club. That was definitely a day to remember! Amazing people, amazing sets, great feedback, and incredible results. I am so thankful to have had the opportunity to do something so great with such a fabulous team. I am absolutely looking forward to running another workshop in 2012! See the video for a glance at the workshop.
Looking ahead to 2012:
This is the year that I am going to pursue photography with a vengeance! With the goal of achieving some publications this year, I'll be submitting EVERYTHING! In addition to submissions, I have teamed with up photographers Adam Merifield, Ann Alimi, and Jeffrey Wu, currently as the group "MesmerEyes", to produce amazing themed work, and gallery features in the making!
Be sure to check out my new website (it's almost complete!) and keep checking for updates!
